I was hoping that the Red Hot would combine the ability to immediately lock on to the crystal in the pin on the green (like the less expensive models do) AND the ability to measure distances to other objects. Not only did it not have the "lock on" capability, it was difficult to use the little circle to zero in on a target, often resulting in erroneous readings. Too much grief.
